A masked man raided a Cheltenham betting shop at the weekend.
The robber, who wore a black balaclava and carried a long-bladed knife, walked into the bookies in Gloucester Road on Saturday evening.
Police said he forced the cashier to open the safe and made off with a large quantity of cash.
The worker suffered a knifepoint scratch to his chest. The offender ran off down Roman Road. Police have appealed for information.

A mother who lost her son in a road accident has channelled her grief to organise a James Bond casino charity evening in his memory.
Health Rowlands’ son Gareth Wyn Jones, 17, died when his car crashed on the A55 near their home at Llanfairpwll, Anglesey, last year.
Mrs Rowlands said organising the event had helped her cope with her loss.
The £5,000 raised is to be split between the road safety charity Brake and youth activities in Llanfairpwll.

A 34-year-old professional poker player from Lancashire has scooped more than £600,000 in the world’s biggest poker tournament held in the United States.
John Kalmar, from Chorley, Lancashire, finished fifth in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
He beat 6,358 poker professionals, amateurs, and a string of Hollywood actors such as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Martin Sheen, to reach the finals.
A seat at the seven-day tournament in Las Vegas cost just under £5,000.

A casino project in the South of Scotland will be allowed to go ahead, if the local council wants it to.
The Stranraer scheme seemed in jeopardy after Prime Minister Gordon Brown signalled a re-think of the Manchester super super-casino and 16 smaller ones.
But UK Culture Secretary James Purnell has told MPs that the local authorities involved should be able to proceed.
Mr Brown has said that regeneration may be a better way of meeting the economic and social needs of hard-pressed areas.

Gambling addicts in Dumfries and Galloway are to receive counselling sessions through the internet.
The move by the charity Gamblers Anonymous aims to help people living in rural areas address their problem.
It plans to roll out Skype, which allows phone calls to be made free over the web, into the homes of addicts in the region.
The nearest Gamblers Anonymous meeting to Dumfries and Galloway at the moment is held in Carlisle.

Two armed men held up a Swindon bookmaker’s and made off with a quantity of cash, police said.
The men walked into William Hill’s in Cavendish Square on Saturday night and confronted two staff with hand guns.
The jumped the counter and stole cash before running off. A Wiltshire Police spokesman said the staff were not assaulted but were very frightened.
He asked for witnesses to the incident which occurred at around 2100 BST to come forward.

The UK Government has insisted plans for a casino in Stranraer could still go ahead, despite the prime minister’s doubts about super-casinos.
Gordon Brown promised a report on the "social effects" of gambling would be completed by September.
The move led to speculation that plans for a super-casino in Manchester and 16 smaller casinos in towns including Stranraer could be shelved.
But the local MP said he had received assurances about the Stranraer casino.
