Two self-confessed gambling addicts who funded a spree at a London casino using a stolen cheque book have been jailed.
Alakasundram Prabaharan from East Ham, east London, and Gurmit Singh Multani from Maida Vale, west London, raised about £8,000 from their scam.
The cheques were taken from a book stolen from a British tourist in March last year, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Prabaharan was sentenced to 16 months and Multani to 12 months. Both men pleaded guilty to fraud.

Three men have escaped with a quantity of cash after carrying out an armed robbery on a bookmaker in Leicestershire, police said.
The men went into the Mark Jarvis shop on Rugby Road, Hinckley at 2030 GMT on Tuesday and threatened a customer and staff with what is thought to be a gun.
No one was injured in the robbery but the men did run off with cash towards Hinckley town centre.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.

An Australian expert giving evidence at the race-fixing trial has been accused of being a "grandstand jockey" with no experience of race riding.
Ray Murrihy has found fault with six-time champion jockey Keiren Fallon in 13 of the 27 races in question.
But George Carter-Stephenson QC, counsel for jockey Fergal Lynch, said it was easy to look at the races with hindsight and criticise.
The two jockeys and four other men deny conspiracy to defraud Betfair clients.

An Australian expert giving evidence at a race-fixing trial has admitted being a long-term opponent of the internet betting exchange Betfair.
Prosecution witness Ray Murrihy said under cross-examination that he had fought to keep Betfair out of Australia because it allowed betting on losers.
Mr Murrihy earlier told the Old Bailey he had found fault with the jockey in 13 of the 27 races in question.
Six defendants deny conspiracy to defraud customers of Betfair.

The Canadian star will perform at the Manchester Evening News Arena on 2 May, and London’s O2 arena on 6 May.

Counsel have raised doubts over police surveillance in the alleged betting scam case involving former champion jockey Kieren Fallon.
Christopher Sallon QC told the Old Bailey that City of London PC Mark Lowe missed a "crucial" observation.
PC Lowe did not spot Mr Fallon getting into a car with alleged syndicate boss Miles Rodgers, Mr Sallon said.
