A Devon man who flew to Las Vegas to play poker when he should have been doing unpaid community work has been sentenced to three months in prison.
Scott Henry was told by the judge at Exeter Crown Court: "If there was a sentence for stupidity you would be serving life imprisonment."
Henry, 23, of Abbey Crescent, Torquay, had been given a community order after admitting a raid on a nightclub.
The court heard he flew to the US in the hope of making money playing poker.

Peaches Geldof, daughter of Bob Geldof, has married her American boyfriend in a Las Vegas ceremony.
The 19-year-old’s publicist issued a statement saying the TV presenter and DJ had wed singer Max Drummey, 23, of indie band Chester French, last week.
Geldof, whose mother was the late Paula Yates, said the marriage had the "full support of their family".
The relationship is reported to have developed in July when Drummey played at a festival Geldof presented.

Stanley Ho made his fortune from Macau’s lucrative casino trade but the billionaire has struggled to adapt to the tiny territory’s changing fortunes.
Mr Ho’s firm, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM), which had a monopoly on gambling for four decades until 2002, has lost out to slicker, foreign rivals who are attempting to transform Macau into Asia’s Las Vegas.
SJM’s share of gambling revenue in the former Portuguese territory, which surpassed the Las Vegas strip in 2006, declined to 40% in 2007 from 75% in 2005, a year after the first foreign company set up shop.

Developers of a $5bn (£2.5bn) casino complex in Las Vegas have abandoned the project, blaming the credit crunch.
The complex was to have included a 5,000-room hotel and one of the tallest towers in the US at 324m high.
It was a joint venture between Australia’s Crown, Texas developer Christopher Milam and private equity firm York Capital Management.
Crown, which is owned by billionaire James Packer, announced a strategic review of the project in February.
